Folklore is Taylor Swift’s eighth studio album and contains “august.”
Swift announced Folklore on July 23, 2020, and released it the following day. She described the album as a collection of songs built around stories, characters, and imagined situations rather than only autobiographical experiences.
“august” appears within that storytelling approach. Along with “cardigan” and “betty,” it contributes to a fictional teenage love triangle involving Betty, James, and Augustine.
Folklore marked a stylistic shift from much of Swift’s earlier pop work toward subdued production, indie folk influences, and more observational songwriting. It received major critical acclaim and won Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
