What is the Eid al-Fitr holiday called in Bosnia and Herzegovina?

The story behind the answer

Eid al-Fitr is called Ramazanski bajram in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Bosnian phrase means Ramadan Bayram and is the common local name for the festival ending Ramadan. In Bosnian usage, bajram refers to a major Muslim religious holiday. Ramazanski bajram begins with the sighting or establishment of the new month of Shawwal, subject to the calendar practice followed by the community.

Bosnian Muslims mark the holiday with a special morning prayer, family visits, festive meals, and greetings. Homes may welcome guests throughout the day, and people often visit cemeteries to remember deceased relatives. Customs differ between families and regions, but the festival has a strong communal character.

Ramazanski bajram should be distinguished from Kurban-bajram, the Bosnian name for Eid al-Adha. The first follows Ramadan; the second occurs during Dhu al-Hijjah and is associated with sacrifice.
