What is the demolition derby called in Pixar’s Cars 3?

The demolition derby in Pixar’s Cars 3 is called Crazy 8.

Lightning McQueen enters the Crazy 8 demolition derby at Thunder Hollow in an attempt to prepare for modern racing. Cruz Ramirez accompanies him, and the event becomes an important turning point in their relationship.

The race is not a conventional paved-track competition. It takes place on a rough dirt course filled with jumps, collisions, and heavily worn vehicles. Lightning disguises himself as the battered racer Chester Whipplefilter to participate.

Cruz proves unexpectedly capable during the event and develops confidence as a competitor. The Thunder Hollow sequence also introduces Miss Fritter, a school bus who dominates the derby and becomes one of the film’s memorable supporting characters.
