The cosmetic product used to hide dark circles and blemishes is concealer.
Concealer is designed to mask localized skin imperfections, including under-eye darkness, pimples, scars, redness, and hyperpigmentation. It is usually more heavily pigmented than foundation, which is generally applied across a larger area to even out overall skin tone. Concealer can be applied with fingertips, a brush, or a sponge, either before or after foundation depending on the desired coverage.
It is sold in liquid, cream, stick, pencil, and powder forms. Different textures suit different uses: liquid formulas can work well over larger areas, while thicker sticks and creams are useful for targeted coverage. Color-correcting shades can also help neutralize discoloration; for example, green is commonly used against redness.
Max Factor’s Erace is widely credited as the first commercially available concealer, launched in 1954. Setting powder may help prevent creasing, but it is not the product’s primary covering function. Primer prepares the skin, and foundation evens the complexion rather than specifically hiding individual blemishes.
