What is the collective title of C.S. Lewis’s seven-book fantasy series about Narnia?

C.S. Lewis’s seven-book fantasy series about Narnia is titled The Chronicles of Narnia. The series follows children and other characters who enter the world of Narnia, where the lion Aslan is its central symbolic figure.

The books were published between 1950 and 1956, beginning with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Lewis did not initially publish the stories in the chronological order of Narnia’s fictional history; later editions commonly use an alternative order beginning with The Magician’s Nephew.

The series is often compared with J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth books, but Narnia is Lewis’s creation and has its own mythology, geography, and recurring characters. The seven titles together, rather than any single novel, make up The Chronicles of Narnia.
