What is the capital of Alberta?
Answer
Edmonton
Answer
Edmonton
What is the capital of Alberta? Edmonton is the capital of the Canadian province of Alberta.
Edmonton lies on the North Saskatchewan River and serves as Alberta's legislative and administrative centre. The Alberta Legislature Building, often called the “Ledge,” stands in the provincial capital and hosts the province's Legislative Assembly and government offices.
The area became an important fur-trade location after the establishment of Fort Edmonton. The Hudson's Bay Company operated a major post there, and the settlement later grew through rail connections, agriculture, government, and energy development. Edmonton was incorporated as a city in 1904.
Calgary is the most common mix-up because it is Alberta's largest city and a major business centre. It is not the provincial capital. Lethbridge and Red Deer are also significant Alberta cities, but Edmonton is the single official answer.
