Tableturf Battle is a single-player or local card-based activity in which players use decks representing Splatoon weapons, characters, and abilities. Each card places a patterned shape on a small grid, and players compete to cover more territory while blocking the opponent’s expansion. The result echoes the series’ central Turf War idea, but translates painting territory into turn-based puzzle strategy.

The mode is separate from standard Turf War, where two teams spray ink across a large 3D arena in real time. It is also not Clam Blitz, a ranked multiplayer mode focused on collecting clams and scoring in an opponent’s basket. Tricolor Turf War is a special three-team battle format, while Salmon Run Next Wave is the cooperative mode involving waves of Salmonids.

Players can collect additional Tableturf cards and build different decks as they progress. Battles take place in a dedicated tabletop-like interface, making Tableturf a slower, more analytical change of pace within a game otherwise built around movement, aiming, and rapid ink coverage.
