What is Sherlock Holmes’s apartment address in the BBC series Sherlock?

Sherlock Holmes’s apartment address in the BBC series Sherlock is 221B Baker Street.

The address comes from Arthur Conan Doyle’s original stories, where Holmes lives in London with Dr. John Watson. Sherlock preserves that famous location but presents it as a contemporary flat managed by Mrs. Hudson, played by Una Stubbs.

In the television series, 221B becomes the main base for investigations, client meetings, experiments, and tense conversations. The sitting room is especially important because it functions as both Holmes’s domestic space and an informal detective office.

The production used North Gower Street in London for exterior shots of 221B. The real address is a literary and tourist landmark, although the television building’s exterior is not the same as the fictional interior shown on screen. The letter B is essential because it distinguishes Holmes’s flat from the neighbouring property.
