What is Muffy's real first name?

What is Muffy’s real first name? Muffy’s real first name is Mary Alice. Her full name is Mary Alice Crosswire, although nearly everyone in Arthur calls her by her nickname.

Muffy is a wealthy rabbit and one of Arthur Read’s classmates at Lakewood Elementary School. Her nickname fits a naming tradition: “Muffy” is commonly used as a nickname for feminine names beginning with M, including Mary and Margaret. In the series, however, her canonical given name is Mary Alice rather than Margaret.

Muffy’s family background is central to her characterization. She is the daughter of Ed and Millicent Crosswire, and the Crosswires are known for their wealth, business interests, and large home. Muffy sometimes acts entitled, but stories also show her loyalty, ambition, and willingness to learn from mistakes.

A common mix-up is treating “Muffy” as her full legal name. It is her familiar nickname; Mary Alice is the formal first-name combination used in character references and story material.
