What is Georgia O'Keeffe's birth date?

Georgia O'Keeffe was born on November 15, 1887. She was born near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, and became one of the most prominent American artists associated with modernism during the twentieth century.

O'Keeffe grew up in a large farming family and received early art instruction before attending formal schools. Her education included the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League in New York. She later developed a personal style based on enlarged flowers, bones, landscapes, and abstract forms.

Her birth year places her in a generation that encountered European modernism while American artists were seeking new visual languages. O'Keeffe lived to be 98 and died in Santa Fe in 1986. Her long career crossed major changes in American art, from early abstraction to postwar museum recognition and a late-life resurgence of interest.
