What is Francesco Bernoulli’s nationality in Pixar’s Cars 2?

Francesco Bernoulli is Italian in Pixar’s Cars 2.

Bernoulli is a Formula-style champion and one of Lightning McQueen’s principal rivals during the World Grand Prix. He is presented as confident, theatrical, and eager to emphasize his own achievements. His rivalry with Lightning helps motivate the central racing story while Mater’s spy adventure develops alongside it.

The character’s name, design, and dialogue identify him as Italian. His home country is also reflected in the film’s second World Grand Prix location, Porto Corsa. Bernoulli is voiced by John Turturro in the English-language version.

Cars 2 expands the series beyond the American Route 66 setting of the first film. It uses an international racing tour through Tokyo, Porto Corsa, and London, allowing the story to introduce racers and vehicles from several countries.
