What is Eric Cartman's first name?

Eric Cartman’s first name is Eric.

The character’s full name is Eric Theodore Cartman. He is one of South Park’s four central boys, alongside Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski and Kenny McCormick. Cartman lives in the fictional Colorado town with his mother, Liane Cartman, and is voiced by series co-creator Trey Parker.

Cartman is known for his obesity, selfishness, manipulative behavior and bigoted remarks. Those traits make him one of the show’s most controversial characters, but they also drive many of its storylines. His surname is Cartman, which is why the character is frequently called simply “Cartman” in dialogue.

A historical wrinkle is that an early version of the character appeared in the 1992 short Jesus vs. Frosty under the name Kenny. The familiar Eric Cartman identity developed afterward, appearing in the 1995 short and then in the television series’ first episode, which aired in 1997.
