What is Dr. Robotnik's space station called in Sonic the Hedgehog 2?

Dr. Robotnik’s space station in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is called the Death Egg. It is the villain’s enormous orbital weapon and the destination of the game’s final sequence.

The name is a deliberate reference to the Death Star from Star Wars, while the station’s design reflects Sonic’s recurring egg-shaped imagery and Robotnik’s own name. In the game’s story, Robotnik uses captured animals and machinery to build the Death Egg as a superweapon capable of threatening the planet.

The Death Egg is not the same location as the Egg Carrier, which appears in Sonic Adventure, or the Space Colony ARK, which belongs to the Sonic Adventure 2 storyline. Final Fortress is also a different late-game setting from another Sonic title. These names are easy to mix up because Sonic games repeatedly use industrial, space, and egg-themed locations.
