Which studio developed Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric?
Answer
Big Red Button
Answer
Big Red Button
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric was developed by the Los Angeles-based studio Big Red Button.
Released in 2014 for Wii U, Rise of Lyric was created as part of Sega's broader Sonic Boom initiative, which also included an animated series, comics, toys, and other games. Big Red Button developed the project under the supervision of Sonic Team and Sonic designer Takashi Iizuka.
The game used CryEngine and emphasized combat, exploration, and cooperative play rather than the traditional high-speed platforming associated with the main Sonic series. IllFonic provided additional help with level design, art assets, and code, while Crytek assisted with adapting the engine to Wii U.
Those support roles can cause confusion, but they do not replace Big Red Button as the principal developer. Sanzaru Games instead developed the Nintendo 3DS companion title Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal.
