What is Chandler Bing’s middle name in Friends?

Chandler Bing’s middle name in Friends is Muriel.

The unusual name is revealed during the series when Chandler discusses his family and reacts strongly to learning that the other friends know it. The detail is used as a comic contrast with Chandler’s otherwise familiar first and last name. His full name is Chandler Muriel Bing.

Chandler’s middle name is connected to his parents’ complicated family history. His father, Charles Bing, is a famous drag performer in Las Vegas, while his mother, Nora Tyler Bing, is a romance novelist. Chandler’s discomfort about his family often becomes the subject of his sarcastic humor and emotional avoidance.

Muriel is sometimes misremembered as a nickname or as the name of another Friends character. It is specifically Chandler’s middle name, not his father’s or a relative’s first name. Matthew Perry portrayed Chandler throughout the original series.
