What is Beyoncé’s third studio album?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé’s third studio album is I Am... Sasha Fierce, released in 2008.

The album was designed as a two-disc project. The I Am... disc emphasized more personal and emotionally direct material, while the Sasha Fierce disc represented the more theatrical performance persona Beyoncé had created for the stage.

Its track list included “If I Were a Boy,” “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” “Halo,” and “Diva.” “Single Ladies” became especially influential through its choreography and black-and-white video, while “Halo” became one of Beyoncé’s most widely recognized ballads.

The album’s title refers to the contrast between Beyoncé as a person and Sasha Fierce as a stage alter ego. It is sometimes mistakenly called her second album because B’Day was her second solo studio album. In chronological order, Dangerously in Love came first, B’Day second, and I Am... Sasha Fierce third.
