Answer
Deena Jones
Answer
Deena Jones
Beyoncé plays Deena Jones in the 2006 film Dreamgirls.
Dreamgirls is a musical drama directed by Bill Condon and adapted from the stage musical of the same name. It follows a fictional female singing group called the Dreams as it moves from talent shows into the mainstream music industry during the 1960s.
Deena Jones is one of the Dreams and eventually becomes the group’s lead singer. Jennifer Hudson plays Effie White, the original lead whose voice and personal story drive much of the film’s conflict. Anika Noni Rose plays Lorell Robinson, while Jamie Foxx plays manager Curtis Taylor Jr.
The film is fictional, although its story is often discussed alongside the history of Motown and groups such as the Supremes. Dreamgirls is therefore not a direct biography of Beyoncé or any specific real group. Beyoncé also contributed prominently to the film’s music, including the song “Listen.”
