Taylor Swift played guitar during her 2021 Grammy Awards performance of “august.”
At the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on March 14, 2021, Swift performed “august” as part of a medley with “Cardigan” and “Willow.” The performance used a woodland cottage setting that matched Folklore’s visual atmosphere.
Swift began the medley with “Cardigan,” singing while positioned on top of the cottage. She then performed “august” on guitar inside it, accompanied by Jack Antonoff and Aaron Dessner. The trio finished with “Willow,” a song from Evermore.
The Grammy appearance was significant because it marked the first time Swift, Antonoff, and Dessner performed together. The arrangement also connected Folklore and Evermore, the two surprise albums Swift released during 2020.
