What horror movie character wears a hockey mask as part of his costume? Jason Voorhees. The mask is the signature image of the killer from the Friday the 13th film series, although it was not part of Jason’s look in the earliest films.

Jason first appeared wearing a sack over his head in Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981). The famous hockey mask debuted in Friday the 13th Part III (1982), when filmmakers adapted a goaltender’s mask into a distinctive prop with red markings.

The mask is sometimes mistakenly associated with the entire franchise from its beginning, but Jason did not wear it in the original Friday the 13th (1980). Another common mix-up is confusing Jason with Michael Myers, who wears a pale mask, or Leatherface, who wears a mask made from human skin.
