LeBron James attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. The private Catholic school became nationally famous during James's four varsity basketball seasons, when he led the Fighting Irish to three Ohio state championships and emerged as one of the country's most highly regarded high-school players.

As a freshman, James helped St. Vincent-St. Mary complete a 27–0 season and win the Division III state title. The team repeated as champions the following year, and James earned national attention as his scoring, passing, strength, and court vision continued to develop. He later became the first high-school underclassman to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

The school is often confused with elite basketball programs such as Oak Hill Academy, Findlay Prep, or Montverde Academy, all of which are associated with other prominent players.
