What group did Patty Smythe front in the 1980's?

The story behind the answer

Patty Smyth fronted the American rock group Scandal in the 1980s. She joined the New York-based band as its lead vocalist in 1981, becoming the face and voice most closely associated with its brief but memorable run of mainstream success.

Scandal first attracted attention with the 1982 song "Goodbye to You," followed by the 1984 hit "The Warrior." The latter was written by Holly Knight and Mike Chapman and became Scandal’s biggest commercial success, reaching the U.S. Top 10. The band’s sound combined hard-edged rock energy with polished early-1980s pop production.

Smyth is sometimes confused with singer Patti Smith because their names are similar, but they are different artists. After Scandal’s initial period ended, Patty Smyth pursued a solo career and later recorded the hit duet "Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough" with Don Henley. Scandal reunited in the 2000s for performances and television appearances.
