What Google service suite includes Play Services and core Google apps on many Android devices? Google Mobile Services is the suite that includes Play Services and core Google apps on many Android devices.

Usually abbreviated GMS, Google Mobile Services is a proprietary collection of Google applications and application programming interfaces. Common components include Google Play, Google Search, Chrome, YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps, Google Drive, and Google Photos, although the exact package can vary by device and market.

GMS is separate from the Android Open Source Project, or AOSP. A manufacturer can build a device using AOSP without including Google’s proprietary apps, while devices that ship with GMS generally require Google’s licensing and compatibility arrangements.

Google Play Services is one important part of GMS, not the name of the entire suite. Play Services supplies shared background APIs used by many apps for features such as location, account sign-in, notifications, payments, and security-related functions. This distinction explains why an Android phone can run Android without necessarily having Google’s apps.
