McDonald’s launched the global slogan “I’m Lovin’ It” in 2003, following “We Love to See You Smile.”
“I’m Lovin’ It” was created as a worldwide marketing platform rather than as a slogan limited to one national market. Its accompanying audio identity, including the familiar “ba da ba ba ba” mnemonic, helped connect McDonald’s advertising across countries and languages.
The campaign was notable because McDonald’s had previously used different advertising approaches and slogans in different markets. A more unified platform gave the company a consistent verbal and musical signature while allowing local advertising to adapt the message.
The phrase is sometimes written with different capitalization, but the official English form is “i’m lovin’ it,” using a lowercase style in McDonald’s branding. It remains one of the most internationally recognizable fast-food taglines.
