What follow-up series to the original CSI premiered in 2021?

The follow-up series to the original CSI premiered in 2021 as CSI: Vegas.

CSI: Vegas is a revival and direct continuation of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which originally ran on CBS from 2000 to 2015. The new series returned to the Las Vegas crime lab, the setting that launched the franchise, while introducing a new team led by Maxine “Max” Roby, played by Paula Newsome.

The premiere aired on October 6, 2021, exactly 21 years after the original CSI debuted. William Petersen and Jorja Fox returned in the first season as Gil Grissom and Sara Sidle, helping connect the revival to the original series. Marg Helgenberger later reprised Catherine Willows. CSI: Vegas is sometimes confused with CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, or CSI: Cyber, but those were earlier spin-offs rather than the 2021 follow-up.
