What fictional world is ruled by Aslan in C.S. Lewis’s children’s novels?

The story behind the answer

Narnia is the fictional world ruled by Aslan in C.S. Lewis’s children’s novels.

The Chronicles of Narnia comprises seven fantasy books published between 1950 and 1956. Narnia is a parallel world populated by humans, talking animals, mythical creatures, and other beings. Aslan, a talking lion, is its central ruler and creator figure, although the stories also move beyond Narnia into neighboring realms.

The first published Narnia book was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Lewis later wrote The Magician’s Nephew as a chronological prequel, so reading orders can differ depending on whether publication order or internal chronology is used.

Narnia should not be confused with Boxen, Lewis’s childhood imaginary country, or Charn, the dying world visited in The Magician’s Nephew. Those settings belong to different parts of Lewis’s fictional mythology.
