C.S. Lewis creates the fictional world of Narnia in The Chronicles of Narnia.
Narnia is a land of talking animals, mythical beings, magic, and human visitors. The seven books span a large fictional history, from the world’s creation in The Magician’s Nephew to its final transformation in The Last Battle.
The series includes recurring figures such as Aslan, the Pevensie children, and the White Witch, although not every book centers on the same characters. Lewis drew on Christian ideas, classical mythology, medieval romance, and traditional fairy-tale patterns while creating a story world intended to work as imaginative fiction.
Narnia is sometimes confused with Middle-earth, the setting created by Lewis’s friend J.R.R. Tolkien. The worlds are separate: Tolkien wrote The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, while Lewis wrote the Chronicles of Narnia.
