Narnia is the fictional land that gives its name to C.S. Lewis’s famous fantasy series.
The Chronicles of Narnia follows characters who enter or live in a world populated by talking animals, mythical creatures, and human rulers. Narnia is also the name of the wider realm at the center of the stories, not merely the title of one location or kingdom.
Aslan, the series’ great lion, is closely associated with Narnia’s creation, protection, and restoration. The books also connect Narnia with other worlds, including Earth and the world of Charn, allowing Lewis to build a larger fictional cosmos around the central setting.
Readers sometimes confuse Narnia with other famous fantasy settings such as Middle-earth, created by J.R.R. Tolkien, or Earthsea, created by Ursula K. Le Guin. Those are separate literary worlds. Lewis’s seven-book sequence is specifically The Chronicles of Narnia.
