What fast food chain was founded by Glen Bell?

The story behind the answer

The fast food chain founded by Glen Bell was Taco Bell.

Glen Bell began in the restaurant business with a hot-dog stand called Bell's Drive-In in San Bernardino, California, in 1948. After studying the preparation of crispy-shell tacos at the Mitla Café, he developed taco-focused restaurant concepts including Taco-Tia and El Taco.

Bell opened the first Taco Bell on July 6, 1962, in Downey, California. The small walk-up restaurant sold tacos, burritos, tostadas, and other Mexican-inspired foods, with several items priced at 19 cents. The name Taco Bell followed Bell's earlier ventures and became the brand's permanent identity.

A common mix-up is confusing Taco Bell's founder with the founders of other Mexican-inspired chains. Glen Bell founded Taco Bell, while Del Taco was created by Ed Hackbarth and David Jameson. Bell's company was later sold to PepsiCo in 1978, helping fuel the chain's national expansion.
