What event began the United States Semiquincentennial celebrations on June 14, 2025?

The United States Army 250th Anniversary Parade began the United States Semiquincentennial celebrations on June 14, 2025.

The date was significant for two reasons: June 14 is Flag Day, and it marked the 250th anniversary of the United States Army. The parade therefore served as an early military and historical opening to the wider national commemoration.

The Army celebration preceded the main anniversary year. America250 events formally started later, on July 3, 2025, while the central 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence fell on July 4, 2026.

This sequence can cause confusion because several different milestones were promoted under the same broad celebration. The Army parade was the opening event for the celebrations, not the anniversary of the Declaration itself and not the later Sail250 maritime program.
