The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is powered by the LT6. This naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 uses a flat-plane crankshaft and double overhead camshafts, making it fundamentally different from the pushrod V8s used in the regular Corvette Stingray.
The LT6 produces 670 horsepower at 8,400 rpm and has an 8,600-rpm redline. Its design was influenced by the Corvette C8.R racing engine, with features including a dry-sump lubrication system, forged aluminum pistons, titanium connecting rods, titanium intake valves and sodium-filled exhaust valves. The engine’s high-revving character is central to the Z06’s track-focused identity.
The LS3 and LS7 are older Chevrolet performance engines, not the 2023 Z06’s powerplant. The LT2 powers the C8 Stingray, while the Z06 received the more specialized LT6. The Z06 uses the same eight-speed dual-clutch transmission family as other C8 Corvettes, but with performance-oriented gearing and chassis changes.
