What earlier national anniversary immediately preceded America250 in the United States?

The United States Bicentennial immediately preceded America250 as the previous major national anniversary.

The bicentennial marked 200 years since the Declaration of Independence and was celebrated in 1976. It was a major nationwide observance featuring ceremonies, public projects, exhibitions, parades, and commemorative objects.

America250 follows the same independence-anniversary sequence but marks 250 years in 2026. In anniversary terminology, a bicentennial is 200 years, while a semiquincentennial is 250 years.

The United States also observed a centennial in 1876 and a sesquicentennial in 1926. The word “tricentennial” refers to 300 years, so it belongs to a future anniversary rather than to the event planned for 2026.
