What does "bias" mean in K-Pop?

In K-pop, “bias” means your most favorite member of a particular idol group. For example, if you like BTS’s Jungkook more than the other members, Jungkook is your BTS bias.

The term is part of K-pop fandom vocabulary, especially among international fans. It describes the member a fan feels most drawn to, whether because of their voice, dancing, personality, appearance, or stage presence. It does not necessarily mean the objectively best or most talented member; it is a personal preference.

A common mix-up is confusing “bias” with “bias wrecker.” A bias wrecker is another member who repeatedly attracts your attention and threatens to become your new favorite. Fans may also use “ultimate bias” for their favorite idol across all groups, while having a separate bias in each group. In Korean fandom language, the related term 최애 (choe-ae) literally refers to someone’s most-loved or favorite person, and is often translated as “bias” in English-speaking K-pop communities.
