Taylor Swift performs “august” in Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions.

The 2020 documentary concert film shows Swift performing every song from Folklore with collaborators Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff at Long Pond Studio in upstate New York. Between performances, the musicians discuss how the songs were written, recorded, and interpreted.

The film gave Swift an opportunity to explain the fictional characters behind “august,” including the girl she imagined as Augustine or Augusta. It also showed how the album’s intimate arrangements could be performed outside the original studio recordings.

Disney+ released the film on November 25, 2020. A live album taken from the performances was released the same day, allowing listeners to hear alternate versions of the Folklore songs.
