What dessert name did Android 1.5 have?
Answer
Cupcake
Answer
Cupcake
Android 1.5 had the dessert name Cupcake. Released on April 27, 2009, Android Cupcake was the third Android version and followed Android 1.1. It was the first major Android release to use Google's confectionery-themed naming tradition, which continued through Android 9 Pie.
Cupcake was more than a nickname: it delivered several important upgrades. It added an on-screen keyboard, allowing touchscreen phones without physical keyboards to run Android comfortably. It also introduced home-screen widgets, stereo Bluetooth support, video recording, and direct uploads to YouTube and Picasa.
The HTC Dream, also sold as the T-Mobile G1, originally depended on its slide-out physical keyboard. Cupcake changed that by adding predictive text, autocorrection, custom dictionaries, and support for third-party keyboards. This is why the release is often remembered as a turning point in Android's early history.
Froyo, Eclair, and Donut were also Android dessert codenames, but they belonged to later or separate releases: Eclair was Android 2.0–2.1, Froyo was Android 2.2, and Donut was Android 1.6.
