What country is ladies tennis pro Justine Henin from?

The story behind the answer

Ladies tennis professional Justine Henin is from Belgium.

Henin was born in Liège, Belgium, on June 1, 1982, and became one of the defining players of her generation. She reached world No. 1 in women’s singles and held that ranking for 117 weeks, including year-end No. 1 finishes in 2003, 2006, and 2007.

Her achievements helped establish Belgium as a major force in women’s tennis. Henin won seven Grand Slam singles titles: four French Opens, two US Opens, and one Australian Open. She also won Olympic singles gold at the 2004 Athens Games and helped Belgium win its first Fed Cup in 2001.

Henin is especially known for her elegant one-handed backhand and all-court style. A frequent source of confusion is Kim Clijsters, another Belgian star and Henin’s contemporary; Clijsters also became world No. 1, but she is a different player. Henin retired from professional tennis in 2011 after a career that included 43 WTA singles titles.
