Naughty Dog developed the survival-horror video game The Last of Us Remastered. It is an enhanced PlayStation 4 version of the original The Last of Us, which Naughty Dog created for the PlayStation 3.
The original game was released in 2013 and follows Joel, a smuggler in a post-pandemic United States, as he escorts Ellie across the country. The infection has devastated civilization, and Ellie may hold the key to a possible cure. The story combines stealth, exploration, resource management and close-quarters combat with a character-driven relationship at its center.
The Last of Us Remastered arrived in 2014 with improved visuals and performance for PlayStation 4. It also bundled the Left Behind story expansion and multiplayer-related downloadable content. A frequent source of confusion is the distinction between a remaster and a remake: Remastered enhances the 2013 game, while The Last of Us Part I, released later for PlayStation 5 and Windows, rebuilds the game more substantially.
