What color is the diagonal stripe on the flag of the Solomon Islands?

The story behind the answer

The diagonal stripe on the flag of the Solomon Islands is yellow. It runs from the lower hoist-side corner toward the upper fly-side corner, dividing the flag into a blue upper triangle and a green lower triangle.

The flag was adopted on 18 November 1977, eight months before the Solomon Islands became independent from the United Kingdom. Yellow represents the sun and its rays, while the blue and green sections evoke the country's water and land. The blue also reflects rivers, rain, and the Pacific Ocean; green suggests trees, crops, and vegetation.

The canton contains five white stars arranged in an X pattern. When the flag was designed, those stars represented the five provinces and the capital territory of the period. The number of stars did not increase as additional provinces were created.

The yellow stripe can be confused with a gold or orange band in reproductions, but standard descriptions identify it as yellow. Its diagonal position is also a useful way to distinguish the flag from other Pacific designs.
