What color is the border of the red triangle on the flag of Guyana?

The story behind the answer

The border of the red triangle on Guyana’s flag is black. This narrow black edging, called a fimbriation, separates the red triangle from the larger golden triangle behind it.

Known as the “Golden Arrowhead,” Guyana’s flag was adopted on 26 May 1966, the day the country became independent from the United Kingdom. American vexillologist Whitney Smith designed the original concept. The black and white borders were later added following suggestions from the College of Arms in Britain.

The flag’s colors carry symbolic meanings: green represents agriculture and forests, gold mineral wealth, white rivers and water, black endurance, and red zeal and dynamism. The red triangle points toward the fly, or outer edge, while the golden triangle forms the arrow-like shape that gives the flag its nickname.

A common mix-up is confusing the black border of the red triangle with the white border of the golden triangle. Both appear on the flag, but only the red triangle is edged in black.
