AC/DC has a member originally from the band The Easybeats: George Young. Young was a founding member of The Easybeats, the influential Australian group behind the international hit “Friday on My Mind.”
George Young was also the older brother of AC/DC guitarists Malcolm and Angus Young. After The Easybeats broke up, he became a producer and songwriter, helping shape AC/DC’s early recordings with collaborator Harry Vanda. He occasionally performed with AC/DC during the band’s earliest lineup changes, including as a substitute bassist and drummer.
The common mix-up is assuming the clue refers to Angus or Malcolm Young. Neither was in The Easybeats; George was. Angus and Malcolm formed AC/DC in Sydney in 1973, while George and Vanda produced some of the group’s first material. George’s behind-the-scenes role was crucial to AC/DC’s development, even though he was not a long-term official member of the classic touring lineup.
