What award nomination did Pixar's Cars receive at the 79th Academy Awards?

Pixar's Cars received a nomination for Best Animated Feature at the 79th Academy Awards.

The 79th Academy Awards honored films released in 2006 and took place on February 25, 2007. Cars was nominated alongside Happy Feet and Monster House in the animated-feature category, which recognizes outstanding animated motion pictures.

Happy Feet won the award. Cars did not receive the Best Picture nomination, although its soundtrack included the nominated song “Our Town,” written and performed by Randy Newman. That separate song nomination is a common source of confusion when recalling the film's Oscar recognition.

Cars was also nominated for Best Animated Feature at other awards ceremonies. Its Academy Award nominations therefore include both the film category and the song category, but the clearest single film nomination is Best Animated Feature.
