What award did Pixar’s Cars win at the first Golden Globe ceremony to honor animated films?

Pixar’s Cars won Best Animated Feature Film at the first Golden Globe ceremony to honor animated films.

The award was presented at the 64th Golden Globe Awards in January 2007, recognizing films released during 2006. Cars competed in the newly established animated-film category against other major animated features of that year.

The category was significant because it gave the Golden Globes a dedicated award for animated theatrical features. Cars became its inaugural winner, adding a major industry honor to the film’s successful theatrical run.

This result is distinct from the Academy Awards, where Cars was nominated for Best Animated Feature but did not win. Happy Feet won that Oscar. The Golden Globe victory therefore refers specifically to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s award, not to the film’s full awards-season record.
