What award did Pixar's Cars win as the first animated recipient?

Pixar's Cars won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature as the award's first recipient.

The film won at the 64th Golden Globe Awards, held in January 2007, for its 2006 release. The category was new that year, making Cars the inaugural winner. Its competitors included Pixar's own The Incredibles? No: the award's first nominees also included Happy Feet and Monster House, but Cars took the prize.

Cars also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature, but it did not win that Oscar. Happy Feet won the Academy Award for that category, which is why the Golden Globe and Oscar results are sometimes mixed up.

The Golden Globe recognition added a major awards milestone to Cars' commercial success. The film had already become a prominent Pixar release through its character work, racing story, and Route 66 setting.
