What anniversary will follow the America250 Semiquincentennial in 2076?

The Tricentennial will follow the America250 Semiquincentennial in 2076.

A tricentennial marks 300 years. Since the Declaration of Independence was adopted in 1776, adding 300 years gives 2076. The United States Semiquincentennial article identifies 2076 as the next major anniversary after the 2026 observance.

The sequence is straightforward: the centennial was in 1876, the sesquicentennial in 1926, the bicentennial in 1976, the semiquincentennial in 2026, and the tricentennial in 2076. These names describe elapsed time since the 1776 founding event.

“Quadricentennial” would describe 400 years and therefore belongs to 2176, not 2076. “Bicentennial” describes 200 years and was used for the 1976 celebration. The terms refer to anniversary intervals, not the age of an individual nation in a legal sense.
