Wikipedia lists “Dinsdale!” as the alternate title of episode 14 of Monty Python’s Flying Circus.
The episode belongs to the programme’s second series, broadcast in 1970. Its listed sketches include “Face the Press,” “New Cooker Sketch,” “The Ministry of Silly Walks,” and “Ethel the Frog / Piranha Brothers.” The title refers to Dinsdale Piranha, a character whose paranoia becomes the target of one of Python’s surreal recurring jokes.
The joke is amplified by Terry Gilliam’s animation: Spiny Norman, a giant hedgehog, appears over buildings shouting “Dinsdale!” This odd interruption helps explain why the exclamation became an identifying label for the episode. It is not the same as the series’ other alternative titles, such as “School Prizes,” “The Nude Man,” or “Show 5,” which belong to different episodes.
The Ministry of Silly Walks is the episode’s best-known sketch, starring John Cleese as a civil servant who administers government grants for ridiculous walking styles. The episode is therefore often remembered by that sketch, but its alternate catalogue title is “Dinsdale!”
