What alien heads demand an original song in “Get Schwifty”? The Cromulons do.

The Cromulons are enormous, disembodied alien heads who arrive above Earth and demand that humanity perform an original song. Their command launches the central plot of “Get Schwifty,” in which Rick and Morty enter a galaxy-wide musical contest to prevent Earth from being destroyed or judged unworthy.

Rick’s response is the deliberately nonsensical song “Get Schwifty,” performed with Morty while the rest of the world watches. The episode satirizes televised talent competitions by turning the contest into a cosmic survival ritual: the performers are entertainers, but the stakes are planetary. The Cromulons’ repeated catchphrase, “Show me what you got,” became one of the show’s most recognizable quotations.

They are easy to mix up with other Rick and Morty species. Meeseeks are blue humanoid beings created to complete tasks, Gazorpazorpians come from the world of Gazorpazorp, and Gromflomites are associated with the Galactic Federation. None of those groups demand the song. The Cromulons specifically judge musical performances, making them the episode’s alien talent-show hosts.
