Logan received an R rating in the United States.
The Motion Picture Association rated the film R for strong brutal violence, language, and brief nudity. This rating allowed director James Mangold to present a more severe and adult-oriented story than the earlier Wolverine films, including graphic action and frequent profanity.
Released in 2017, Logan stars Hugh Jackman as an aging Wolverine in a near-future story involving Professor Charles Xavier and a young mutant named Laura. Patrick Stewart reprised his role as Xavier. The film was marketed as Jackman’s final appearance as Wolverine at the time.
The rating is sometimes confused with the PG-13 classification used by most earlier X-Men films. Deadpool and Deadpool 2 also received R ratings in the United States, but Logan’s rating was specific to its own content and official classification. Ratings can vary between countries.
