What actress played Danielle Rousseau in Lost?

Mira Furlan played Danielle Rousseau in *Lost*.

Rousseau is introduced as the mysterious French woman who has lived on the island for sixteen years before Oceanic Flight 815 crashes. She arrived with a French scientific expedition aboard the Bésixdouze after the crew intercepted the island’s repeating radio transmission of the Numbers. After her companions became ill and died, Rousseau remained alone and became intensely focused on finding her infant daughter, Alex, who had been taken by the Others.

Furlan was Croatian, born in Zagreb when it was part of Yugoslavia, while Rousseau is written as French. That difference sometimes led viewers to wonder whether the character’s nationality had been misrepresented, but the series consistently identifies Rousseau as French.
