What actor played Walt Lloyd in Lost?
Answer
Malcolm David Kelley
Answer
Malcolm David Kelley
Malcolm David Kelley played Walt Lloyd in Lost.
Walt is introduced as the young son of Michael Dawson and one of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. His relationship with Michael is strained after Michael’s long absence from his life, but Walt quickly forms important bonds with other survivors, especially John Locke. The island’s inhabitants, known as the Others, become interested in Walt because they believe he is unusually special.
Kelley won the role after auditioning with many other children. Lost producers were impressed by his performance in the 2002 film Antwone Fisher. Walt was initially planned as a more prominent character with possible supernatural abilities, including an apparent connection to animals.
The character’s screen time changed because Kelley grew rapidly while the show’s story advanced only a few months. The writers sent Walt and Michael away from the island at the end of season two, though Kelley later returned in guest appearances and in the DVD epilogue The New Man in Charge. Kelley is also known for later becoming one half of the pop duo MKTO.
