Answer
Minions: The Rise of Gru
The 2022 film that is the sequel to Minions and the fifth Despicable Me franchise film is Minions: The Rise of Gru.
The animated comedy follows an 11-year-old Gru as he tries to become a supervillain, aided by Kevin, Stuart, Bob, and the other Minions. Its story takes place before the main Despicable Me films and continues the Minions’ connection with Gru first shown in Minions (2015).
Illumination produced the film, while Universal Pictures distributed it. Kyle Balda directed, Steve Carell returned as Gru, and Pierre Coffin again voiced the Minions. The Vicious 6, a team of supervillains, serves as the main threat.
The title is commonly shortened to Minions 2, but its official title is Minions: The Rise of Gru. It premiered in 2022 after a two-year delay caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and earned more than $940 million worldwide.
