What 1993 stop-motion film follows Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King?

The story behind the answer

What 1993 stop-motion film follows Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King? The answer is The Nightmare Before Christmas.

This stop-motion musical fantasy follows Jack Skellington, the celebrated Pumpkin King of Halloween Town. Tired of repeating the same Halloween celebration, Jack discovers Christmas Town and becomes fascinated by its unfamiliar traditions. His attempt to take over Christmas leads to comic confusion and serious consequences.

The film was directed by Henry Selick, written by Caroline Thompson, and produced by Tim Burton, whose 1982 poem inspired the project. Danny Elfman wrote the score and songs and provided Jack’s singing voice, while Chris Sarandon supplied the speaking voice. The filmmakers used replacement animation and hundreds of puppet heads and faces to create the characters’ expressions.

A frequent misconception is that Tim Burton directed the film; he created the story and produced it, but Selick directed. Coraline and Corpse Bride are also stop-motion films, yet neither follows Jack Skellington or Halloween Town.
